Job summary

Benesch in Utah is seeking a Bridge Engineer to lead the design of vehicular and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and related structures across transportation projects.

The ideal candidate will have 5–10+ years of bridge design experience, a Utah PE license or reciprocity, and proven ability to mentor staff while delivering projects on time and within budget. This role offers exposure to the full project life cycle.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering; MS is a plus.
• PE license in Utah or reciprocity eligibility.
• 5–10+ years bridge design experience.
• Experience with UDOT and/or municipalities.
• Strong organization and leadership; ability to meet budgets and schedules.
• Proven experience with complex analysis and design.
• Ability to assemble complete design packages and construction documents.
• Experience with Leap Bridge, LUSUS, Midas, OpenBridge.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer on bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects.
• Mentor junior staff and support staff growth.
• Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations for bridge design.
• Manage design calculation files and ensure QC reviews.
• Coordinate plans, specs, cost estimates, and pay items per DOT standards.
• Collaborate with Project Manager on tasks and timelines.
• Lead structural designers on bridge design and rehabilitation projects.
