Job summary

Benesch is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join our Utah team. You will lead vehicular and pedestrian bridge projects, mentor junior staff, and oversee design calculations while coordinating with the Project Manager.

The role spans planning through in-service phases, offering exposure to full lifecycle touches. The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years in bridge design, a Utah PE or reciprocity path, and experience with UDOT or municipalities.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering (MS a plus).
• PE License in Utah or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
• 5–10+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience with UDOT or municipalities.
• Strong organization and leadership with budgeting/scheduling.
• Experience with complex analysis and design.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead engineer on bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects.
• Mentor junior staff and help grow structural team.
• Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations for bridge design.
• Manage design calculation files and plans with QC reviews.
• Coordinate plans, specs, costs, and pay items per DOT standards.
• Coordinate tasks with Project Manager.
• Lead structural designers on bridge design and rehab projects.
