Job summary

Benesch is a growing planning, engineering, and professional services firm expanding its Bridge team in Utah. The Bridge Project Engineer will lead vehicle and pedestrian bridge projects, manage design calculations, and mentor junior staff through the project life cycle.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of bridge design experience, a PE in Utah (or reciprocally obtained), and proven ability to deliver complex structural solutions within DOT standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (MS preferred).
• PE license in Utah or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
• 5–10+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience with UDOT or municipalities.
• Strong organization and leadership with budget/schedule discipline.
• Proven ability to perform complex bridge analysis and design.
• Ability to assemble design packages and construction docs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead engineer on bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects.
• Mentor junior staff and develop structural team capabilities.
• Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations for bridge design projects.
• Ensure QC reviews of work and compliance with DOT standards.
• Coordinate plans, specs, cost estimates, and pay items with the Project Manager.
• Lead designers on bridge design and rehabilitation efforts.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders throughout project life cycle.
