Job description

Job Summary

The User Services Supervisor - 2nd Shift will oversee the daily operations of the Library’s user services during the second shift. This includes hiring and training Federal Work Study student employees, supervising and managing their duties, coordinating circulation, and ensuring patrons receive timely assistance with library resources.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate hiring and training of Federal Work Study student employees.
  • Supervise, train, and manage student employees.
  • Oversee and manage the functional supervision of circulation during 2nd shift hours.
  • Conduct user and item record maintenance, physical material processing, shelving, shelf reading, stack maintenance, and other collection maintenance needs.
  • Develop best practices, strategies, and workflows in accordance with library policies.
  • Manage circulating materials, including course reserves, interlibrary loans, general collection, and instructional services materials.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures during scheduled shifts.
  • Assist with cleanup projects for the Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Assist patrons with the use of the library catalog, electronic resources, computers, and printing.
  • Manage patron services.
  • Handle consortia borrowing and lending requests.
  • Support visiting patrons in the INN‑REACH consortia network.
  • Compile various library statistical reports.
  • Assist with library exhibits and digitization projects.
  • Handle basic printer, computer, and copier troubleshooting, and report technology issues.
  • Provide support to students, faculty, and staff at various service points.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least one year of library experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a library automated system, preferably ExLibris Alma.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Alma fulfilment system.
  • Experience working in an academic library setting with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and technology.
  • Experience with interlibrary loan and document delivery automated systems (OCLC WorldShare ILL, Ex Libris’ Rapido).
  • Ability to organize and perform duties independently.
  • Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access (or similar software).
Schedule

Will be assigned any schedule within the library’s operating hours, including nights and weekends.

Employment Status

Open Until Filled. Position Category: Staff – Monthly (Exempt). Salary: Commensurate with experience.
