Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks a User Experience and Assessment Coordinator for the Libraries & Museums to promote user-centered thinking across the organization. You will serve as a data evangelist, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.

This role combines UX research, data visualization, and reporting duties, with responsibilities spanning testing, data governance, annual reporting, and staff training.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • One year of experience using data to assess programs or services.
  • Ability to maintain security and integrity of UTSA infrastructure per policy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user experience testing and heuristic evaluations of systems, spaces, and experiences.
  • Collect, analyze, and visualize library and user data from multiple sources.
  • Develop and maintain systems to collect, store, analyze, and report data.
  • Oversee and maintain the data governance framework.
  • Create reports, visualizations, and dashboards to translate insights.
  • Provide training and documentation to support staff in data-related tasks.
  • Manage data collection for annual reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

Starting $60,918 annualized withflexibility, commensurate with education, experience, andqualifications.

Job Summary

The User Experience and Assessment Coordinator will promote user-centered thinking within the organization, ensuring that the user's perspectives are central to all decision-making processes. In this role, you will be a data evangelist, communicating data in ways that are impactful and inspired.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Conducts user experience testing and heuristic evaluations ofsystems, spaces, and experiences; analyzes user data and recommendareas for improvement.
  2. Collects, analyzes, and visualizes library and user data fromvarious sources, including library systems, vendor statistics,observations, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  3. Develops, implements, and maintains systems to collect, store,analyze, and communicate organizational data for internaldecision-making and external reporting.
  4. Oversees and maintains the data governance framework.
  5. Generates analysis and translates insights into reports,visualizations, and dashboards.
  6. Provides consultation, training, and documentation to supportlibrary staff as they gather, process, analyze, manage, and reportdata related to library resources and services.
  7. Manages data collection for annual reporting for the Librariesand Museums.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science or Libraryand Information Science.
  • One (1) year of experience working with data to assessprograms, services, or products; data collection, manipulation, andanalysis; and assessing user needs and behavior or related workexperience.
  • This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or R. Ability to present complex information in engaging andeasily comprehensible formats, e.g. data visualization, appropriateuse of charts, etc.
  • Experience with statistical analysis andinterpretation.
  • Skills in and experience with quantitative and qualitativeresearch methodologies, such as surveys, interviews, or focusgroups.
  • Experience conducting user experience research andtesting.
  • Experience in academic libraries and knowledge of assessmenttools in academic libraries.
  • Displays curiosity and enthusiasm around data analysis andinterpretation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills,including presentation skills.
  • Experience leading project teams; ability to work independentlyand as a member of a team.

Working Conditions
  • Office environment. Ability totravel to and from meetings, training sessions, orotherbusiness-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours mayvary depending on the department's needs.
Physical Demands
  • Sedentary work: sitting most of the time. Jobs aresedentary; walking and standing are required onlyoccasionally.

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
