Job summary

Aurora Health Care Metro, Inc. seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to support operating room teams with aseptic preparation, equipment handling and patient positioning. You will assist with a variety of procedures, maintain sterile technique, and help ensure safety and efficiency during surgeries.

Ideal candidates will have formal Surgical Technology training, 2+ years in the role, and strong interpersonal skills to support physicians and staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a suturing class approved by supervisor.
• Proficient in all surgical specialties with expertise in a minimum of two.
• Advanced knowledge and skill of aseptic surgical techniques for prep of materials and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate physician needs and respond to changes.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provides for a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care; uses aseptic techniques for prep of materials and equipment.
• Performs all procedures and serves as a resource in a surgical specialty; assists with complex cases.
• Ensures OR disinfection, safety and efficiency; sets up room and operates equipment; returns items after procedures.
• Notifies staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Transports patients and equipment; maintains specialty carts and checks equipment condition.
• Acts as a resource and precepts Surgical Technologists I; participates in committees or teams.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific care as described in department policies.
