Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Central Oregon seeks a Medical Assistant to support multiple clinics in Redmond, Prineville and Madras. You will manage daily patient flow, prepare exam rooms, document data, and assist physicians with patient care and procedures.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, MA certification, basic ICD-10/CM/CPT knowledge, and 1–2 years of experience. The role emphasizes confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork within a compassionate health care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current MA Certification from AMT/NCCT/AAMA/NAHP/NHA or equivalent licensure.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Two years Medical Assisting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10/CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for physician assessment.
• Records and maintains patient medical data in the chart.
• Assists physicians with phone requests from patients and others.
• Performs physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical procedures (excluding IV meds).
• Maintains equipment and inventory; supports Lean continuous improvement.
• Delivers safe, confidential patient care and handles sensitive information.
