Job summary

WellNow Urgent Care in Bloomington, Indiana is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our clinical team. You will take patient histories, obtain vital signs, perform phlebotomy if certified, and support both the front desk and clinical workflows.

You will assist providers with exams, conduct point-of-care testing, and help manage patient records in the EMR system while maintaining HIPAA standards and a clean, well-stocked environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role.
• Preferred experience in Urgent Care and/or Occupational Medicine.
• CPR certification maintained as required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples if certified.
• Complete lab paperwork for tests (blood, urine, tissue).
• Perform point-of-care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy, urinalysis).
• Schedule and coordinate records for ancillary care.
• Assist providers with exams and testing (e.g., EKG, splints).
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
• Ensure equipment is functioning and rooms are stocked.
• Document patient histories, exam findings, and procedures performed.
• Explain insurances accepted and pricing; greet and register patients; triage calls; collect patient responsibility; handle printing/scanning/faxing; keep clinic clean.
• Complete Occupational Medicine documentation in EMR; conduct Urine Drug Screens, Breath Alcohol, Hair Screens, DOT/Non-DOT Physicals, Vision/Audio, PFT, Audiograms.
