Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care in West Hartford, CT is hiring a Medical Assistant to support urgent care providers. You will handle patient check-in, vitals, venipuncture, and point-of-care tests, while maintaining exam rooms and front desk tasks.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential. Requirements include a High School Diploma, Medical Assisting program completion (preferred), BLS, and MA certification options or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• MA certification options accepted (CCMA CMA RMA NCMA NRCMA) or equivalent.
• 1+ year MA/Phlebotomy experience acceptable in lieu of MA cert.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and basic point-of-care tests.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance coverage.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate provider referrals to specialists.
• Perform vital signs and basic physical screening.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG).
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms and reception areas.
• Handle daily opening/closing duties and cash handling.
