Job summary

Novant Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant Float to support providers in delivering high-quality urgent care services. You will assist with patient intake, clinical procedures, front desk operations, and overall patient flow to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for every patient.

The role requires 1+ year MA experience, BLS certification, and proficiency with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect paperwork, insurance information, and eligibility verification.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists as directed.
• Prepare patients for examination by confirming visit details and documenting in the medical record.
• Measure and record vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, height, weight).
• Perform point-of-care testing (flu, strep, UA, EKG, pregnancy) and communicate results.
• Draw and prepare blood specimens for lab analysis.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms; monitor supplies and inventory.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Answer phones and maintain a welcoming reception area.
• Conduct patient follow-up courtesy calls.
• Perform opening/closing duties and cash handling.
