Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health in Columbus, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians across clinical and administrative tasks. You will take patient histories, record vital signs, perform basic testing, draw blood, and help prepare patients for exams in a fast-paced urgent care environment.

The role emphasizes patient confidentiality, accurate documentation, proficiency with electronic medical records, CPR certification, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a physician practice or clinic setting.
• Basic computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to work independently with good clinical judgment.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and record vital signs.
• Perform basic testing and screenings (vision, hearing, urine drug screens, EKGs, PFT).
• Perform phlebotomy and collect lab samples.
• Complete lab paperwork and documentation.
• Assist with injections and minor procedures.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, flu, glucose, pregnancy tests).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and proper autoclave use.
• Coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals.
• Assist providers during exams and testing.
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and balance patient flow.
• Register patients, explain insurances and collect payments.
• Travel to care centers within designated region.
• Train other team members.
