Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a dental assistant to support faculty, students, and residents in the CDM clinics. Under supervision, you will perform chair-side assistance, operatory setup, radiography, and patient transport while maintaining patient privacy and safety.

Responsibilities include managing dental supplies, updating the electronic health record, and ensuring infection control and OSHA compliance across urgent care, endodontic, screening, and special care

Qualifications

High school diploma and formal training in an ADA-accredited dental assisting course.
One year of dental assisting experience OR three continuous years of dental assisting experience.
Radiation Safety certification required for positions responsible for dental x-rays.

Responsibilities

35% chair-side assistance using four-handed dentistry for faculty, students, and residents, updating the electronic health record.
30% calibrating operatory setup and post-procedure cleaning, sterilizing instruments, and enforcing OSHA and infection-control standards.
10% acquire or assist with radiographs (periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, 3-D imaging, intraoral scans) following safety standards.
10% assist in urgent care, endodontic, screening, and special care clinics, transport patients, and monitor patients post-anesthesia.
10% manage dental supplies and inventory, check stock, place orders, and maintain MSDS notebook and incident forms.
5% support other clinics and duties as directed by the clinic manager/supervisor.
