Job summary

City of Jonesboro is seeking a Senior Planner to assist in administering planning and development activities from City Hall in Jonesboro, AR. The role is full-time and hourly, reporting to the Director of Planning.

The position requires comprehensive knowledge of planning processes, the ability to draft staff reports, and coordination with multiple departments. A city driver’s license is required; AICP preferred; strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge from education and experience in urban planning or related fields.
• Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 12–18 months related management experience.

Responsibilities

• Process planning applications and coordinate reviews with City departments.
• Draft staff reports for Planning Commission and review subdivision plats.
• Inspect projects to ensure compliance and issue zoning certificates.
• Coordinate with departments and respond to citizens’ inquiries in a timely manner.
