Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a Senior Planner to lead the Planning and Zoning Division in managing short- and long-range planning activities. The role requires coordinating with City departments, external agencies, and the public, and providing complex administrative support to the Division Manager.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in planning, landscape architecture, public policy or related field.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Licensing & Certifications: None required; preferred AICP or CZO.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management on planning and zoning tasks, serving as a lead on assigned programs and use of resources for the division.
• Coordinate with other City departments, outside agencies, officials and the public; develop recommendations for Administration and City Council.
• Lead and coordinate the division's work plans and projects, review methods, and provide staff guidance.
• Prepare maps, graphs and GIS outputs for division and City departments.
• Participate in division budget development and administration.
• Facilitate internal and public meetings and hearings related to programs and commissions.
• Develop comprehensive and area development plans in consultation with other divisions, departments, developers and public.
• Represent the division to other departments and external agencies; coordinate activities with others.
• Attend professional meetings to stay abreast of best practices; respond to citizen inquiries with tact.
