Job summary

The Padre Hotel in Bakersfield, CA seeks a server to deliver fast, knowledgeable service in a historic, four-diamond setting. Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, customer relations and service standards.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English for customer interaction.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction.
• Working knowledge of wines and domestic & international spirits.

Responsibilities

• Set up assigned station according to Padre standards at opening and start of shifts.
• Complete pre-shift side work.
• Describe and upsell all beverage offerings and menu items.
• Verify age for guests under 30 ordering alcohol and ensure valid ID.
• Ensure safe sale of alcohol and handle intoxication appropriately.
• Greet guests professionally and promptly at the table.
• Merchandise and knowledgeably describe food, bar, beverage, and retail items; pass tests with 90%+.
• Coordinate timing of service steps within the station and run food to tables.
• Check back with guests after two bites to ensure satisfaction and address needs.
• Present and merchandise dessert menus; answer questions about food/beverage.
• Enter orders into the POS system and manage checks accurately.
• Close checks correctly, process payments quickly, and complete cash-out.
• Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned and adapt to varying schedules.
