Job summary

Biltmore is seeking a Retail Sales Assistant to support the A Gardener's Place shop with sales, guest service, and accurate cash register operations. Roles include assisting guests, checking inventory, up-selling, and maintaining shop appearance while supporting leadership and the broader team.

The position requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with an average of 20 hours per week. Starting pay is $16.32/hour, and security/background checks may be required before employment.

Qualifications

• Previous retail and/or customer service experience strongly preferred; 6 months in upscale/luxury setting desired.
• Exceptional guest relations and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills and cash register familiarity; cash handling helpful.
• Demonstrated commitment to world-class guest service.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused team environment.
• Able to anticipate guest needs, take initiative and multitask.
• Good judgment and reliability; adaptable to shifts and needs.
• Some locations may have age restrictions or special requirements.
• Plant and plant care knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional guest service and warmly greet every visitor.
• Develop proficiency in POS operations and accurate cash handling.
• Assist with opening/closing shops and manage sampling areas.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and organize merchandise throughout the day.
• Develop product knowledge to upsell and cross-sell effectively.
• Work with minimal supervision and support restocking as needed.
• Exhibit professional phone/radio etiquette per guidelines.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude toward guests and colleagues.
