Job summary

The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Restaurant Server to join its upscale dining team. You will take orders, describe menus, and ensure guest satisfaction with precise service and attention to detail.

This role requires at least one year of server experience, a California Food Handler Card, and the ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays. You will collaborate with culinary and FOH management to deliver memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one (1) year experience working as a Server, preferably in an upscale dining environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
• Must be 21 years of age or over.
• Must have current California Food Handler Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handling Card before first day of employment.
• Ability to work a variety of schedules including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work as a team player with all restaurant staff.
• Take food and drink orders accurately and notify kitchen of order following department procedures.
• Be prepared to explain menu items, including food content and preparation style.
• Be familiar with daily specials and present to guest.
• Ensure consistency in preparation and presentation of food and drink items before serving to guest.
• Follow all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines.
• Understand and use the proper procedure for guest walk-outs.
• Present guest check and process utilizing proper policies and procedures for cash, room charge or credit card.
• Remain up-to-date on events within hotel/resort.
• Know all dining room floor plans and understand the seat number system.
• Strictly adhere to the rules and regulations established in the employee handbook and the hotel's policies.
• Follow proper payroll, uniform, and grooming policies and procedures.
• Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, pre-shift meetings, other departmental and hotel meetings and/or training as scheduled.
• Maintain open communication with the Culinary staff as well as the FOH Management
• Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation and is well versed in all procedures
• Utilizing the10'-5'-3' rule in all interactions
• Recognize and address any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
• Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents.
• Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
