Job summary

The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Banquet Server to provide exceptional service at private events, anticipating guests' needs and maintaining a professional appearance. You will work with events staff to deliver guest-focused dining experiences in a luxury setting.

Responsibilities include serving meals, replenishing beverages, and upholding sanitation and safety standards while adhering to hotel policies; a CA Food Handlers Card and a minimum of 1 year in a luxury

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience as a Food Server, preferably in a high-end hotel/resort.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
• Must be 21 years of age or over.
• Must have California Food Handlers Card before first day or ability to obtain it.
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work as a team player with all private events staff.
• Review the banquet schedule for arrival times and changes in assignment.
• Assist in placing food items in a function room for display or buffet.
• Serve banquet meals in the order and in accordance to department standards.
• Replenish beverages as necessary and check guest satisfaction with service.
• Ensure consistency in preparation and presentation of food and drink items before serving.
• Remove dishes promptly as guests complete each course.
• Follow sanitation and health department guidelines.
• Remain up-to-date on events within hotel/resort.
• Adhere to rules and policies in handbook and hotel/resort.
• Follow payroll, uniform, and grooming policies and procedures.
• Attend staff meetings, pre-shift meetings, and training as scheduled.
• Respond properly in hotel emergencies or safety situations.
• Utilize the 10'-5'-3' rule in all interactions.
• Address problems from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
• Notify management of unsafe conditions and maintenance needs.
• Follow procedures in emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Private Events management.
