Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to design, plan, and execute structural tests for the 4-Engine second stage of the New Glenn rocket. You will contribute to flight hardware design, engage in the full design cycle, and ensure rigorous test readiness and data analysis for high-stress space hardware.

The role involves coordinating fixtures, instrumentation, and test execution, with relocation provided and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience with complex structural systems.
  • Direct experience executing production or qualification tests with emphasis on mechanical, structural, or fluid systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E).
  • Strong project management skills including supplier management, scheduling, and production interfacing.
  • Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for lawful employment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts and preliminary designs for test.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation.
  • Coordinate test readiness and execution, including fixturing design, requirements validation, work order management, materials procurement, test setup and configuration, instrumentation, and manufacturing coordination.
  • Operate as load control console operator during live test execution.
  • Create and own development and qualification test activities for hardware.
  • Work with 3D CAD programs and FEA tools.
  • Deliver designs with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards and documented analyses.
  • Work independently to develop solutions.
  • Enforce safety standards in all test operations.
