Position Summary

The Pingry School is seeking dependable and flexible educators to serve as per-diem Upper School Substitute Teachers at our Basking Ridge Campus during the 2026-2027 school year. Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage for Grades 9 through 12 on an as-needed basis. You will excel in this role if you enjoy working with adolescents, establish a calm and professional classroom presence, and can balance appropriate student independence with clear expectations and attentive supervision. Successful substitutes are adaptable, dependable, comfortable moving among different courses, and able to build respectful relationships with students and colleagues. This is an on-call, per-diem position. Substitute Teachers must be available to work the full school day from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. when accepting an assignment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and administrators.
  • Comfort using Google Classroom, Veracross, and Google Workspace applications.
  • Flexibility to work within the School's rotating schedule and respond to changing daily assignments.
  • Commitment to Pingry's mission, Honor Code, and DEIB values and to contributing to a culture of equity, belonging, respect, and shared responsibility.
