Job summary

Florida International University is seeking a UPI Community School Manager to oversee the Unlimited Potential Initiative at a local partnership site. The role entails coordinating academic support, wellness, family engagement, and community outreach with school leadership and FIU departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.
  • Experience working with public K-12 school systems is preferred.
  • Experience presenting to groups and working with underrepresented or first-generation students is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, logistics, staffing coordination, and implementation of the Unlimited Potential Initiative through FIU's Education Effect university-assisted community school partnership site.
  • Coordinate site-based programs and services aligned with academic achievement, attendance, student well-being, and family engagement.
  • Supervise site staff and coordinators responsible for tutoring, mentoring, and expanded learning.
  • Serve as primary liaison among FIU, the school district, families, and community partners.
  • Build and maintain partnerships to expand volunteer, internship, service-learning, and outreach opportunities.
  • Convene stakeholders and organize programs and events to strengthen student success and community connections.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts including needs assessments, data review, planning, and evaluation.
  • Collect and analyze data on student progress, program outcomes, grant deliverables, and site initiatives.
  • Represent the partnership at school sites, FIU, and community forums related to university-assisted community schools.
  • Participate in professional development and conferences related to program management and community engagement.

Job Summary

The UPI Community School Manager oversees the daily operations, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of The Education Effect university-assisted community school programs and services at a local partnership site (elementary, middle, or high school). Coordinates academic support, expanded learning, wellness, family engagement, community outreach, and university-connected programming in partnership with school leadership, district personnel, FIU departments, families, community organizations, donors, and regional university-assisted community school partners. Supervises site-level partnership staff, analyzes data and outcomes, prepares reports, manages resources, supports grant objectives, develops partnerships, and represents the initiative across FIU, the school district, the local community, and state or national university-assisted community school networks. Collaborates daily with the MDCPS Office of Community Enrichment Education.

  • Manages the day-to-day operations, logistics, staffing coordination, and implementation of the Unlimited Potential Initiative through FIU's Education Effect university-assisted community school partnership site, including school-day, afterschool, and summer programs and services focused on students’ academic enrichment, family engagement, teacher professional development, and community outreach programming.
  • Develops, coordinates, and oversees site-based university-assisted programs and services aligned with academic achievement, attendance, student well-being, school climate, teacher retention, family engagement, and community partnership goals.
  • Supervises and supports partnership site staff and coordinators responsible for academic support, tutoring, mentoring, expanded learning, in-class support, and related student success initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary site-based liaison among FIU, school, and district leadership, students, families, feeder schools, community organizations, donors, and university-assisted community school partners.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with FIU departments, faculty, students, student organizations, school personnel, families, and community partners to expand volunteer, internship, service-learning, outreach, and educational engagement opportunities.
  • Convenes stakeholders, facilitates collaboration, and organizes programs, workshops, outreach activities, and community-building events that strengthen student success, family involvement, and connections between the school, community, and university.
  • Leads site-level continuous improvement efforts, including needs assessments, asset mapping, baseline data review, strategic planning, goal setting, outcome tracking, evaluation, and program improvement.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to student progress, program outcomes, partnership objectives, grant deliverables, site-level initiatives, partner stewardship, continuous improvement, and sustainability building for use in monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports.
  • Represents the partnership at the school site, FIU, the school district, local community meetings, and local, regional, and national forums related to university-assisted and community school partnerships.
  • Participates in professional development, training, conferences, and technical assistance opportunities related to program management, data use, community engagement, educational best practices, and partnership sustainability.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.
