North Carolina State University Libraries in Raleigh, NC seek an University Library Technician-Advanced to support monographic acquisitions and management within the Acquisitions & Discovery department.

Responsibilities

  • The University Library Technician applies technical, metadata, and data skills to support the increasingly complex responsibilities of monographic acquisitions and management for the Monographs Unit as well as the Acquisitions & Discovery department and the Libraries as a whole.
  • This position creates and maintains bibliographic, item, financial (purchase order, invoice, Pcard receipts), technical, and online data in the library's integrated library system (ILS), university financial system, electronic resource management system (ERM), and related knowledge bases and vendor systems.
  • This position handles complex ordering and receiving tasks and provides support for other Unit staff in these areas.
  • They perform copy, complex copy and original cataloging for monographic resources in all formats and languages.
  • They participate in complex electronic resource package work for the Libraries, including title list reconciliation processes, data quality control, cleaning and standardization, vendor and agent communication, knowledge base work, ERM data entry, and ILS work.
  • The position participates in receiving and resolving cataloging concerns and questions across the Libraries, as well as electronic resource access troubleshooting and problem resolution utilizing a ticketing system and communicating with stakeholders.
  • The position participates in creating, editing, updating and maintaining workflow documentation.
  • This position provides daily monitoring and troubleshooting of all monographic ordering streams.
  • They manage both manual and automated vendor invoice and order record loads, troubleshoots file load errors, and performs invoice and vendor account reconciliation.
  • They participate in short and long term projects undertaken by the Monographs Unit and the Department, and they serve on cross-departmental teams.

The Acquisitions & Discovery (A&D) department supports the teaching and research program of the University by providing searchable metadata for the more than 3.5 million volumes and 110,000 print and electronic journal subscriptions purchased by the NC State University Libraries, thus preserving and making accessible the intellectual content of the library's collections. The Monographs unit is one of three units within the Acquisitions & Discovery department. The main focus of Monographs within the department is to serve as a highly skilled task force to acquire, receive, describe and deliver monographic materials in all formats to facilitate use of, and access to, the library's collections. The monographs unit creates and maintains bibliographic, financial (purchase order, invoice, Pcard receipts), technical, and online data in the library's integrated library system (ILS), university financial system, electronic resource management system (ERM), and related knowledge bases and vendor systems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
