Job summary

Midland States Bank seeks a Universal Banker Trainee to deliver excellent customer experiences and learn product offerings through needs-based questioning. You will work toward meeting performance and production goals under supervision of a Banking Center Manager.

The role emphasizes transactional accuracy, product referrals, and customer relationship building, with opportunities across multiple bank locations and participation in community activities.

Qualifications

• Sales and customer service background.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags (25–50 lbs).
• Multilingual speakers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Receive cash and checks for deposits, verify amounts, endorse and review for fraud.
• Guard against counterfeit bills.
• Cashes checks for customers per bank policy.
• Enter transactions into computer system and issue receipts.
• Balance cash drawer daily to minimize teller differences.
• Understand basic deposit and lending products and services.
• Identify correct product types through needs-based questioning to refer business partners.
• Assist with basic deposit account openings and maintenance with coaching.
• Develop sales knowledge to achieve personal and team goals.
• Track sales and opportunities in the customer information software.
• Participate in onsite visits to promote Employee Perks at Work and Merchant Services.
