Job summary

Columbia Bank, based at a Northfield Bank location that will rebrand to Columbia Bank in early 2027, seeks a Universal Banker. You will provide a full range of banking services to retail customers, handling both transactional and non-transactional needs to support branch goals.

You will open accounts, advise on financial needs, cross-sell products, assist with daily closing, and maintain accurate customer records while delivering great customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
• 1–2 years of retail or customer service experience required.
• Interpersonal, time management, organizational and PC skills a must.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work weekends as needed or scheduled.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Candidates must attend mandatory training, continued employment is contingent upon passing training classes.

Responsibilities

• Process all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cashing checks, money orders, gift and Bank checks, loan payments and safe deposit box rentals.
• Open new deposit and checking accounts and explain products; handle deceased accounts; assist with files and daily platform work.
• Discuss personal financial needs with customers and cross-sell bank products and services; refer to other departments as needed.
• Prepare daily proof sheet at close; assist with end-of-day closing procedures.
• Maintain accurate customer and account records; update safe deposit box records and branch files.
• Make referrals to Wealth Management, First Jersey Title, Mortgage Origination and other departments.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.
