Job summary

Pratt Industries in Ohio is seeking a unitizer operator to manage setup, operation, and cleanup of the unitizer and related equipment. You will place bands, wrap, scan barcodes, and maintain proper packaging patterns to ensure efficient production.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and forklift experience; prior corrugated industry exposure is preferred. This on-site position offers benefits and opportunities for growth within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prefers experience in corrugated industry.
• 6 months experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
• Experience as forklift operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate the unitizer and related equipment with proper setup and safety.
• Place bands and stretch wrap accurately; ensure proper stacking patterns.
• Scan barcodes on units passing through the unitizer.
• Create neat units with correct number of bands per unit.
• Maximize equipment utilization by running at capacity and speed.
• Complete production reports accurately and on time (Production Data, Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data).
• Ensure unit quantities are correct; pull excess scrap from units.
• Operate a forklift safely when needed; turn in maintenance orders promptly.
• Follow production schedule and suggest improvements to meet cost/quality/service goals.
• Report scheduling issues to Supervisor; comply with policies and safety rules.
