Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking a unitizer operator to manage the unitizer and related equipment, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations at our facility in Ohio. The role requires attention to detail, accuracy in packaging units, and proactive maintenance practices.

You will follow production schedules, maintain proper documentation, and collaborate with team members to optimize throughput while complying with safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• 6 months experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate the unitizer and associated equipment, ensuring correct banding and stretch wrap as per setup.
• Place unit tags and cover sheets properly and maintain correct stacking patterns.
• Scan barcodes on units passing through the unitizer.
• Create neat units with correct number of bands on each unit.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at available capacity and speed.
• Complete reports such as Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
• Ensure unit quantities are accurate and pull excess scrap.
• Operate a forklift safely when needed.
• Submit maintenance orders for needed repairs and proactively maintain equipment.
