Job summary

Pratt Industries in Ohio seeks a unitizer operator to manage setup, operation, cleanup, and process improvements for packaging production. Responsibilities include operating the unitizer, stacking patterns, scanning barcodes, and maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, forklift experience, and the ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math. Prior corrugated industry exposure and press/finishing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
• 6 months experience in the Press or Finishing Department preferred.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.
• Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Able to apply concepts of high school math.

Responsibilities

• Operate the unitizer and equipment, ensuring proper placement of bands and stretch wrap.
• Ensure correct unit tags, cover sheets, and stacking patterns.
• Scan barcodes on units through the unitizer.
• Create neat units with appropriate bands on each unit.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity and speed.
• Complete reports accurately and timely (Production Data, Machine Status, Safety Data, Quality Data).
• Ensure unit quantities are correct and pull excess scrap as needed.
• Operate a forklift safely when required and report maintenance needs.
• Adhere to production schedule and suggest optimizations to meet cost, quality and service goals.
• Report scheduling issues to supervision and comply with company policies.
