Job summary

Encompass Health in Athens, GA is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit and ensure smooth patient care. You will maintain medical records, transcribe orders, and serve as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff and visitors in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Ideal candidates have CPR certification (preferred), at least one year of inpatient unit secretary experience, and enrollment in a healthcare program with knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program and familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/efficiently transcribe medical orders and distributes to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
