Job summary

The Laurels of Dekalb is seeking an RN Unit Manager to lead and teach nursing staff at our skilled nursing facility. The role focuses on planning, coordinating and directing nursing care and health education for our residents.

We value experienced leaders who can supervise RNs, LPNs and CMAs, supervise procedures, and contribute to assessments and care planning. A passion for geriatric care and staff development is essential.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification, nursing specialty certification desired.
• Experience in supervisory or management roles in long-term care or geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing care provided by RN, LPN, CNA and others.
• Reviews and implements all nursing procedures and systems.
• Assesses and evaluates systems enabling quality guest care and staff performance.
• Uses a systematic nursing process to provide individualized care.
• Contributes to guest assessments (MDS/CAA) and care plans.
• Evaluates guests' responses to nursing interventions.
• Understands rationale for medications and treatments and administers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing care provided by Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and others.
• Reviews and implements all nursing procedures and systems.
• Assesses and evaluates the systems which facilitate the delivery of quality guest care and performance of staff.
• Uses a systematic approach in the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care.
• Contributes to the guest assessments (MDS/CAA’s) and the development and implementation of a plan of care.
• Evaluates guests’ responses to nursing interventions.
• Understands the rational for the use of medications and treatments and correctly administers as needed.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification and additional certification in a nursing specialty desired.
• Management or supervisor experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred.
