The Unit Helper/Transportation Assistant must have a valid Maine driver's license and a good driving record. A safety training program in transporting residents and use of the wheelchair lift will be successfully completed. Personal Support Specialist (PSS) training will be provided within 120 days of hire unless the applicant is a current C.N.A.
Preference will be given to candidates with six months' experience working in a nursing home, residential care facility, or other health care facility, but it is not required. The minimum age is 21 years.
The Unit Helper/Transportation Assistant provides daily transportation for residents to medical appointments, answers the phone, books medical appointments, and assists with activity events and shopping as needed, ensuring the comfort and safety of residents in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and the policies of Pinnacle. The Helper is delegated the responsibility for carrying out duties by the Residential Care Director to maintain high-quality resident care. Responsibilities include answering telephones, scheduling appointments, scanning, copying, faxing, assisting with bed making, meal delivery, and cleanup.
Applicants must be able to read, write, follow directions accurately, recognize and respond to residents' needs, and make prompt, accurate judgments regarding resident care and driving. They must be able to perform essential functions beneficial to residents and compliant with business necessities.
The candidate must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs.
Hours vary Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend/holiday shifts. Part-time to full-time positions may be available.
Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent.
