Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a unit clerk to support patient care by performing clerical and non-professional tasks linked to unit functioning. The role involves handling calls, coordinating orders, and assisting nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Selected candidate will manage inventory, operate during computer downtime, and ensure smooth communication across departments. Post-high school medical terminology knowledge and basic transcription skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Post high school coursework in Medical Terminology or equivalent related experience.
• Experience in transcribing physicians' orders is preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to maintain filing systems.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone(s) on Unit and manages calls appropriately.
• Retrieves meds and supplies and delivers to proper place.
• Transcribes physicians orders to medical records during downtime.
• Picks up blood from Lab and medications from Pharmacy as directed.
• Completes Acuity Sheets and communicates acuity updates to Staffing Office.
• Maintains unit supplies inventory and par levels.
