Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a part-time Administrative Clerk for the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's Blount in Oneonta, Alabama. Evening shift available; Saturdays and Sundays 12p-12a.

This on-site role supports clinical operations with flexible PTO benefits for eligible positions. Responsibilities include greeting patients, screening calls, routing communications, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient charts, and coordinating meetings.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route calls, file and perform general clerical duties.
• Coordinate patient care communications and schedule appointments promptly.
• Assist clinicians with order entry, transfers, discharges; assemble patient charts.
• Organize meetings, take notes, and manage timekeeping and staff schedules.

Job Description

Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
