Job summary

Ascendo Resources in New York seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to oversee union payroll operations for a mid-sized construction company in NYC.

You will administer full-cycle union payroll, process remittances, certified payrolls, and prevailing wage reports, while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EEOC, and OCIP/CCIP requirements. Strong Sage 300 experience is preferred for accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction bookkeeping.
• Hands-on experience with Sage 300 or Timberline.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Administer full-cycle union payroll.
• Process and reconcile union remittances, certified payrolls, and prevailing wage reports.
• Manage workers' compensation claims, payroll audits, and compliance reporting (OSHA, EEOC, OCIP/CCIP).
• Ensure compliance with NYS unemployment and payroll tax regulations.
• Handle job costing, payroll reconciliations, and identify/correct discrepancies within Sage 300.
• Generate and format Excel reports (tables, payroll packages, data analysis).
• Support payroll system transition (experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus).
• Assist with payroll audits, garnishments, benefit remittances, and collaborate with leadership on payroll compliance.
