Job summary

Brawdy Construction seeks an experienced Payroll Accountant to oversee weekly payroll processing and certified payroll reporting for our growing construction operations in New York. The role focuses on Davis-Bacon Act compliance, prevailing wage requirements, and accurate job costing across projects.

Hybrid remote work may be available for the right candidate. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of payroll experience, familiarity with Paycom/Paychex and related compliance tools, and strong Excel

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Paycom and/or Paychex payroll software.
  • Experience preparing certified payroll reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with Davis-Bacon Act and Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements.
  • LCPtracker and/or Elation Systems compliance reporting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and labor compliance requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for public works and prevailing wage projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon Act and New York State Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements.
  • Review employee time records and labor allocations for accuracy and proper job costing.
  • Calculate and track prevailing wage rates and fringe benefit requirements.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end processing, and W-2 preparation.
  • Prepare compliance reports and respond to requests from owners, contractors, auditors, and government agencies.
  • Utilize payroll and compliance reporting systems such as Paycom, LCPtracker, Elation Systems, or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations to resolve payroll and labor compliance issues.

Job description

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and compliance information
  • Construction industry experience strongly preferred
