Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Vernon Hills, IL, is seeking a Union Operating Engineer to operate, maintain and repair building systems across client facilities.

You will oversee mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment, manage preventative maintenance, and coordinate with contractors while prioritizing safety and reliability. The role requires union experience and on-site collaboration with facility teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 4 years experience in electrical, HVAC trade including rooftop units.
• 4 years of experience in backup systems (generator and UPS).
• Universal CFC certification and Stationary Engineer's License are required.

Responsibilities

• Control the daily operation of mechanical equipment in the plant and buildings.
• Maintain mechanical, plumbing, electrical, life safety and control systems.
• Monitor tenant services, preventative maintenance, and inventory control.
• Oversee refrigeration, boilers, pumps, valves and piping equipment.
• Respond to tenant service requests promptly and accurately.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and monitor work quality.
• Evaluate building systems to improve efficiency and performance.
• Adhere to all building safety policies and procedures.
• Occasionally work long hours and weekends; on-call as needed.
• Participate in emergency response and safety training.
