Job summary

JLL is seeking a Union Operating Engineer in Vernon Hills, IL, responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at the client facility. The role requires experience in HVAC, electrical work and safety compliance, with on-call and weekend duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of maintenance and operation of building automation, water treatment and fire life safety systems.
• Familiarity with computers and office automation applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to walk long distances and lift up to 50–100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Control the daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings.
• Perform maintenance and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems.
• Monitor tenant services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general maintenance.
• Maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping and filters.
• Perform tenant service requests accurately and expediently.
• Formulate and implement the preventative maintenance program for the building.
• Oversee maintenance by outside contractors and monitor quality and pricing.
• Evaluate building systems to improve performance and efficiency.
