Job summary

AF Group in Michigan is seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist to provide customer service and underwriting technical support to agencies and policyholders. You will review endorsements, apply rating rules, verify coverage, and respond to audits to ensure compliance across multiple states.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate with regulatory entities and internal teams, and explain policy language and underwriting processes while delivering accurate service and timely decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience with underwriting rules, procedures, policy and audit information.
• Ability to analyze state manuals and laws for coverage changes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation underwriting terminology and concepts.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Respond to basic policy inquiries and provide customer service to agents.
• Review and approve/decline endorsements and changes in coverage across multiple states.
• Analyze policy structure and endorsements; verify coverage with state bureaus and rating rules.
• Provide technical support to agents using online tools; train new staff.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve issues and respond to audits.
