Job summary
AF Group is seeking a Senior Commercial Insurance Field Underwriting Specialist to drive profitable growth and agency engagement across Western to Mid-Michigan. This field-based role develops independent agency relationships, evaluates complex risks, and identifies new business opportunities.
The position requires seven years in insurance, strong underwriting and pricing expertise, and leadership skills to mentor teams and support territory strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, insurance or related field; MBA preferred.
- Seven (7) years of experience in an insurance organization with underwriting/marketing/loss prevention knowledge.
- Industry designations or certification are highly preferred and encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates accounts for eligibility, insurability, exposure, and pricing; prepares quotations and accepts/declines within authority.
- Underwrites new business, renewals, and endorsements to support profitable growth and retention.
- Develops and manages agency relationships and creates agency plans with internal teams.
- Communicates value of commercial insurance products to agents, policyholders, and prospects.
- Analyzes production, loss trends, and territory performance; develops corrective action plans.
