Job summary

Verus Specialty Insurance (a Berkley Company) is seeking a Supervisor, Underwriting Support to lead and develop a team through supervision, coaching, and training. The role focuses on performance, SLAs, and cross-functional collaboration with UAs, Underwriters, Operations, and IT.

You will conduct evaluations, implement training, monitor metrics, and drive improvements across the department while ensuring strong ownership and timely, accurate execution.

Qualifications

• Leadership and 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Strong ownership and accountability with results focus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop team through supervision, mentoring, coaching and training.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations aligned with goals and expectations.
• Identify and monitor training programs and address skill gaps.
• Monitor team performance and drive department goals with urgency.
• Delegate tasks and initiatives to ensure timely execution.
• Set team goals, SLAs, and performance expectations.
• Serve as cross-functional liaison with UAs, Underwriters, Operations, IT and other units.
• Review escalated issues and provide end-to-end solutions with ownership.
• Oversee UA operations including quality control and performance oversight.
• Develop and maintain process and workflow documentation for audit readiness.
• Conduct UA file audits to ensure compliance and identify training opportunities.
• Resolve complex client issues with stakeholders.
• Use data analytics to monitor SLAs, SOP adherence, vendor metrics.
