This fully remote position involves analyzing underwriting data, managing agency relationships, and making independent underwriting decisions. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of underwriting experience, with strong communication and analytical skills.

Underwriter - Propane Target Segment (fully remote)
Position Summary:Crum & Forster’s Target Segments department is seeking a bright and energized individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our Propane Department. The Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing underwriting data to build and maintain a profitable book of business under direct supervision. This role offers ongoing training and educational opportunities to expand your knowledge base. You will manage agency relationships through customer service and marketing activities and collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.Duties & Responsibilities:• Work with manager/mentor to meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals set by the department• Build skills to make independent underwriting decisions and maintain proper file documentation• Operate within assigned letter of authority• Develop knowledge of department products and services• Gain analytical and strategic decision-making skills by working closely with mentors• Participate in training and initiatives to develop industry knowledge; may participate in projects• Build and foster agency relationships through marketing activities, including physical visits, in-person events, and calls• Manage assigned territory, agents, and accounts• Travel may be required• Perform other duties as assigned
Recommended Education & Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience or completion of an equivalent training program preferred• Exposure to underwriting primary lines of business: property, general liability, auto liability, and physical damage• Pursuing or holding insurance industry designations such as AINS, CIC, CPCU, etc. is a plus• Strong communication and analytical skills to pursue new business and manage a renewal book• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel• Strong organizational and time management skills

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $50,600 to a maximum of $95,300. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
