Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain broker and client contact to enhance relationships.
- Underwrite business within parameters set in the agreed underwriting authority document.
- Perform general underwriting functions, including submission reviews, pricing analysis, and setting policy terms and conditions up to our authority limits.
- Seek input from the Actuarial Department for specific account pricing when appropriate.
- Liaise with Claims Department on specific claim activities.
- Utilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new and renewal business.
- Stay current with major industry issues and developments.
- Understand the importance of relationships with brokers and clients, making strategic and thoughtful decisions to win them over.
- Maintain a sense of urgency around resolution, keep agents and clients informed, and follow up promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the team and escalate issues as needed.
- Take pride and ownership in providing timely, high-quality, effective service within company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in High Net Worth insurance underwriting.
- CA E&S experience is required.
- Technical underwriting knowledge and skills demonstrating progression in responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to exceed industry service standards and work effectively across teams.
- Aptitude for working in a competitive market, being innovative, and adapting to change.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Resourceful, results-driven, with problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet research tools.
