About The Role

Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for a Production Underwriter in the state of Arizona. This position will serve as a key member of our Southwest Underwriting team, playing a vital role in generating new commercial lines business opportunities within the territory. It is a Full-Time Remote position, with preferred candidates residing in Arizona.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Develop strong business relationships with key agents and provide underwriting guidance
• Select, price, and develop coverage terms for commercial accounts to ensure profitable underwriting results
• Manage a territory of independent agents to meet profitability and growth objectives
• Review new business applications to evaluate risk
• Accept or decline risks based on underwriting policies
• Review application completeness and contact agents for missing information
• Maintain a profitable book of business using sound underwriting judgment and technical skills
• Interpret insurance coverages for agents and insureds
• Establish and maintain good relationships with agents, communicating underwriting decisions effectively

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in insurance or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years underwriting and marketing experience in the commercial lines sector
• Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, ARM, PLU, etc., demonstrating self-development
• Ability to create business opportunities with excellent underwriting skills and product knowledge
• Willingness to travel 2-3 days per week to visit agents within the territory

Starting Pay: The pay range is $90,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The total compensation may include an annual discretionary incentive.
