Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking an Underground Transmission Engineer to support design and execution of cable systems from concept through construction. You will handle routing, duct banks, manholes, and layouts, coordinating with clients and vendors on projects up to 500kV.

The role requires 3+ years of underground transmission experience, proficiency in CYMCAP and Cable 3D, and solid communication to lead teams and meet budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 3+ years of underground transmission experience.
• Knowledge of underground cable systems and duct banks.
• Experience with engineering calculations and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with 69kV+ transmission systems.
• Strong communication and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission systems per standards.
• Perform cable ampacity, pulling, and grounding calculations.
• Develop routes, duct banks, manholes, and layouts.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specs, and material lists.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project teams.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Assist with project estimates, schedules, QA/QC.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in site visits.
