Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking an Underground Transmission Engineer to support design and delivery of cable systems from concept to construction.

You will work on projects ranging from small assignments to large, high-voltage configurations (69kV–500kV), coordinating with clients, utilities, vendors and multidisciplinary teams. The role requires a Bachelors in Electrical or Civil Engineering, 3+ years in underground transmission or related fields, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 3+ years of underground transmission or related experience.
• Experience with calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission systems in accordance with industry, client, and utility standards.
• Perform cable ampacity, pulling, cable selection, grounding, and bonding calculations.
• Develop routes, duct banks, manholes, risers, trenchless crossings, and cable-system layouts.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, material lists, and construction packages.
• Review survey, utility, geotechnical, thermal-resistivity, and vendor information.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Support project estimates, schedules, proposals, and QA/QC activities.
• Guide junior staff and complete assignments within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Participate in client meetings and project-site visits as required.
