Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Underground Transmission Engineer to support design and engineering of underground transmission projects from concept through construction for 69kV–500kV.

You will perform cable-system calculations, duct-bank and manhole design, plan development, and coordinate with clients, utilities, vendors, and other engineering disciplines while guiding junior staff and contributing to estimates and QA/QC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Three+ years of relevant underground transmission experience.
• Working knowledge of underground cable systems, duct banks, manholes, and installation methods.
• Experience with engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs underground transmission systems per industry standards.
• Performs cable ampacity, pulling, and grounding calculations.
• Develops routes, duct banks, manholes, and cable-system layouts.
• Prepares calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction packages.
• Coordinates with clients, utilities, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provides technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Supports project estimates, schedules, and QA/QC activities.
• Mentors junior staff and ensures work aligns with scope and budget.
