Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a collaborative Underground Transmission Designer to join the Transmission Engineering Group. You will draft civil/electrical drawings and engage in design work for energy infrastructure projects, focusing on underground transmission practices.

You will work with engineers and consultants to develop drawings and technical understanding of underground transmission design practices and procedures, ensuring high-quality deliverables on schedule.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or technical degree in drafting, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ yrs. of CAD experience, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D experience in electric utility industry, performing underground high voltage transmission or distribution projects.
• Knowledge of industry standards and general design practices.
• Excellent Verbal & Written Communications skills.
• Driven for Results, Decision Quality, Priority Setting, Planning, Conflict Management, Informing, Listening, Dealing with Ambiguity & Customer Focused
• Ability to invite and accept constructive feedback
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
• Ability to function in a team environment and culture of cooperation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Draft and CAD all engineering products and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and drafters to fix discrepancies in drawings and designs.
• Complete design tasks under supervision of engineering staff.
• Self-checks to ensure accuracy before review.
• Meet project schedule and quality requirements.
• Deliver high quality deliverables compliant with standards.
• Provide innovative solutions and problem solving.
• Handle multiple projects concurrently with flexibility to changes.
• Assist in delivery of complete projects via meetings, emails, and documents.
• Provide interdepartmental support as required.
