Job summary

Morton Salt is seeking a Project Engineer for Weeks Island in Louisiana to apply mining engineering principles to project planning and execution. You will lead capital and expense projects, supervise contractors, and collaborate with the maintenance team for commissioning of new assets.

The role requires a Mine Project Engineer Degree and the ability to work independently with minimal instruction. Field work includes underground and surface environments with potential hazards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of underground mining experience.
• Experience with mine planning, mine design, ventilation, scheduling, and surveying.
• Knowledge of mine planning principles, underground mining methods, and project management practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine planning to optimize development, production, and resource use.
• Provide technical analysis for resource and reserve evaluations and coordinate with geological data.
• Develop and maintain mine designs, layouts, schedules, and production plans for safe operation.
• Provide technical support for ventilation planning, ground control, and underground infrastructure development.
• Support surveying activities, mine mapping updates, and production reporting to maintain records.
• Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to identify productivity and cost improvements.
• Participate in mine planning reviews and offer engineering recommendations for development and infrastructure.
