Job summary

Morton Salt is seeking a Project Engineer at Weeks Island to apply engineering knowledge to project planning and execution, including capital and expense projects, supervising contractors, and coordinating with the maintenance team for asset integration.

Must have a Mine Project Engineer Degree and be able to work independently with little instruction. Field work may include underground environments and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of project management and planning.
• Ability to apply mining engineering principles to real projects.
• Ability to organize from conception to completion.
• Ability to supervise others in project settings.
• Work in underground environment with safety focus.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for proposed projects and cost/time estimation.
• Prepare and submit capital and expense project documents.
• Design, develop and supervise engineering projects.
• Maintain project records and mine drawings.
• Coordinate equipment purchases and inspections for mine operations.
• Conduct mine inspections and support ventilation studies.
• Coordinate construction with engineers, contractors and crew.
• Provide engineering advice to mine management on daily operations.
