Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a highly skilled mechanic to safely diagnose, maintain and repair pump systems at the Henderson mine and mill. The role demands hands-on mechanical expertise with pumps, pipelines and water systems in a mining setting, with strong safety focus.

You will mentor teammates, prioritize repairs, and operate heavy equipment as needed. A valid driver’s license, welding/fabrication skills, and industrial maintenance experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years pump mechanical/maintenance experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of APP inspections.
• Ability to prioritize repairs and exercise good decision making.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
• Proficient in welding, fabrication and layout.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair pump systems and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot and install pumps, pipelines, water systems and related components.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumping systems (bearings, temperature, packing, vibration).
• Prioritize and decide on repairs as needed.
• Maintain work orders and inspect work areas.
• Train and mentor other employees.
• Perform advanced welding and fabrication of brackets and components.
• Operate equipment such as trucks, forklifts and cranes as required.
• Serve as Fill-in Supervisor when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
