Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. seeks an Underground Mobile Equipment Diagnostic Mechanic I to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment at the Henderson mine complex near Empire, Colorado.

The role involves welding, component removal and installation, and adherence to safety standards in an on-site setting. Candidates should have at least two years in mechanical maintenance, good English communication, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints and safety instructions in English.
• Completion of required competencies and progression steps for internal employees where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, dozers, loaders and graders.
• Remove, repair, and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps and other heavy components.
• Perform mechanical lubrication and maintenance on hydraulic systems, powertrains and engines.
• Prioritize repairs and make timely, safe decisions.
• Maintain work orders and perform inspections of work areas.
• Operate mobile equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.
• Perform welding (Carbon arc, Plasma, MIG, TIG, Stick).
• Provide guidance as a Fill-in Supervisor when required and mentor other employees.
